  • about the site

Once a blog, ambertides.org is now the repository for things I share through various web services, including specialized blogs, twitter, FriendFeed, and many others.

It’s all temporary…

Journal

Much of what I’ve had up around the web – all the blogs and galleries, have sat unused for so long, that I have taken them down, some permanently, some temporarily, until I can find them new, simpler homes.

My interest in journal keeping waned, then my interest in blogging. I’m not a person who has a solid interest in one, two, or even a handful of things. I am more scattered than that, with not much excellence, but a lot of passions. It makes it hard to carry a single, prolific blog, when most modern blogs are topical.

So things die, and other things are born.

The web that has evolved since I started keeping an internet journal in late 2001 has so many interesting, functional services. I am working to incorporate all those that I participate in into this site. It gives a more accurate picture of my surface life, I think, and I like to keep my inner life, well, inner, or within my inner circle, more often than not. The LifeStream plugin is set to send a post daily, and it updates on the “Full Stream” page a few times every hour.

The old blog is still available for a time, but will not be updated. Anything prior to that is sitting on a burned DVD and nowhere else. The mandala site will come back, and perhaps the portfolio, transformed. And maybe I will have full content posts here from time to time, as well, but I don’t plan on it.

I have felt my internet presence becoming more and more spread out over the years, so having a place to put it all is very exciting to me. FriendFeed provides that, but not on my own ground. In a way, it’s just another way to be spread out. So this seems the best solution to me.

My life is good, simple, clean, and joyful. I think this change expresses that, however temporary all things might be.

    It looks awesome!

I wish I had some inspiration on what to do with my own stuff.. but since I don’t really have a ‘web presence’ these days.. what’s the point?

You have a WoW presence instead. :D

    I am just a scatterbrain.

I love your stuff as it is. Shadowdreams is amazingly creative – much more so than anything I’ve ever done. Except my Firefox won’t let me in the Castle anymore. Grump.

My stuff was fine, I guess, but I don’t know if it was the move or hitting 30 or both or neither, but I just felt really disconnected from it. Lots of personal stuff and none of it very reflective of where I am now.

Plus this can sit here and update itself until eternity and I don’t have to touch it. /lazy

I hope you feel up to being around tomorrow and comp cooperates. I’m really looking forward to it. :) :)
